On Sunday night, a man threw a punch at a police officer following an event at a gaming venue in Shreveport, La.
The individual, Samuel Sanzel Parks, 33, from Shreveport, was requested to exit the casino by security personnel around 11:45 p.m.
Local authorities arrived and attempted to soothe Parks. However, that failed, and officers engaged in a struggle with Parks.
Ultimately, he was captured. Subsequently, he was accused of assaulting a police officer, trespassing, and resisting arrest.
All of the officers were unharmed.
Parks was detained at Caddo Correctional Center. His bail was established at $22,000.
The local news reports did not mention the casino, but police indicated it is situated on Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway, as per Louisiana TV station KSLA.
Vehicle Occupant Hurt at Ocean Casino
Earlier this month, a man fainted after being thrown from the hood of a car in the parking garage at Atlantic City’s Ocean Casino Resort.
At first, the man was sitting in the Nissan Altima. He engaged in a dispute with the vehicle's operator, Delilah Roldan, 21, from Texas.
He reportedly attacked her afterward. Before long, he exited the car and moved onto the hood.
As Roldan accelerated through the garage, the police reported that the victim was thrown off the hood.
The unidentified victim sustained severe injuries. He sustained head wounds and experienced internal bleeding as well. Fractures were observed on his skull, facial structure, and ribs.
By late July, he still had not regained consciousness. It is thought that he is intubated.
According to the local news site BreakingAC, officers captured Roldan at a nearby hotel.
She faced charges of second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree assault via vehicle, and failing to report an accident with injuries. She was additionally charged with reckless driving, not observing a traffic signal, not having a driver’s license, and lacking a registration.
On July 6, the same driver was involved in a two-vehicle collision close to the intersection of Pacific and Pennsylvania avenues in Atlantic City.
Roldan has shown up in court and was freed from detention.
Her lawyer, Yvonne Maher, protested against a photograph of the incapacitated victim being shown in court.
“I don’t believe it’s relevant and nor do we have any explanation about what’s going on there,” Maher said to Judge Pam D’Arcy. “It’s inflammatory.”
D'Arcy did allow the photo to be submitted as evidence but warned, "the court will assign it the weight it considers suitable."
“This was a traumatic incident for her,” Maher further said in court about her client.
"According to both my client and the discovery, he was the one who made the choice to jump on the hood of the vehicle,” Maher added in court. “This wasn’t a situation where she tried to mow him down or she was actively assaulting him.”
However, Assistant Prosecutor John Larson contended that Roldan "had many opportunities to disclose that she had deliberately ejected someone from her vehicle," yet she failed to do so.
