
This month, a Connecticut jury convicted a man for using a knife to rob a visitor of $55K at the Mohegan Sun casino complex in 2022.
Edward L. Taylor, 33, from Bridgeport, Conn., was found guilty after a criminal trial at New London Superior Court.
Victim Towed by Vehicle
Taylor and another man also pulled the victim for several yards while he clung to their vehicle in a bid to retrieve the stolen cash. The victim was refueling his vehicle when the robbers came up to him. He sustained slight injuries while being pulled by the vehicle.
The charges include first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, and first-degree larceny.
Forensic experts discovered Taylor's DNA on the clothing of the victim. The news reports did not reveal the victim's identity.
Judge Shari A. Murphy will sentence Taylor on October 22, as stated by New London State’s Attorney Paul J. Narducci.
The Mohegan Tribe manages the Mohegan Sun casino. The casino is situated close to New London.
Visitor Abducted at California Casino
Earlier this week, a man was charged after he allegedly seized a woman from California’s Tachi Palace Casino Resort. Authorities reported that she was last observed entering her car alongside a man at the California tribal gaming venue.
The missing elderly woman was reported on Monday. According to California TV station KFSN, deputies later located her unharmed in Paso Robles, Calif., by following the signal from her cell phone. Paso Robles is approximately 75 miles to the southwest of the casino.
Dustin Lemaster, 33, was in the vicinity and subsequently apprehended by the Paso Robles Police Department.
According to Yourcentralvalley.com, Lemaster allegedly encountered the victim within the casino. It’s uncertain when their meeting became a kidnapping or the reason the suspect supposedly took her.
The Santa Rosa Indian Community of the Santa Rosa Rancheria manages Tachi Palace Casino Resort. The casino can be found in Lemoore, California, approximately 172 miles southeast of San Jose.
