On Monday night, for around four hours, three children were left alone in a parked car at Pickering Casino Resort in Canada.
The children at one point made the decision to drive off the lot where the car was parked. They were discovered having fun on a nearby street near the gaming establishment in Pickering, Ontario.
One of the security guards who approached the kids informed them that their moms had entered the casino.
When local police officials checked the cell phone that one of the women had given the children, they discovered that there was no charge left in it.
The ages of the children are two, nine, and ten. Police did not divulge identities.
According to the Toronto City News, one of the women owned the two-year-old, while the other had the bigger kids.
Officers were notified about the unattended children, and they arrived at the casino.
The children had been left alone for more than four hours, according to security footage from the casino that the police saw during their inquiry.
Detentions
Officers from Durham Regional Police took both moms into custody. Everybody was accused of abandoning a child.
One woman, a 39-year-old resident of Aurora, Ontario, is the child's parent. The other is a mother of a toddler, 41 years old, from Markham, Ontario. The police did not identify either woman.
The event was reported to the Children's Aid Society. It looks like none of the kids were hurt.
There have been instances of this kind in the US. In some cases, parents were taken into custody for abandoning their kids while the grownups gambled inside the casinos.
Tourist in Joliet Casino Arrested
A woman was detained last week when it was reported that she had brought a gun into the Illinois Harrah's Joliet Casino.
Elizabeth Brothers, 61, of Boaz, Alabama, was accused of illegally using a weapon and possessing ammunition over the weekend, according to Patch.
As long as she agreed to appear in court, she was freed.
Police in Joliet were notified last Thursday that a lady, subsequently identified as Brothers, was found in possession of a gun by casino security guards. The brothers had entered the gaming establishment and were attempting to get on the gaming floor. A metal detector alerted her, and the entrance halted her.
Police informed Patch that although Brothers had a valid permit for the pistol in Alabama, gun owners in Illinois are not covered by the permission.
